Proactive is Better than Reactive

What would be different if you lived ahead of your life rather than behind your life? Below we briefly unpack this idea. Let us know your thoughts or questions if anything inspires you!

  1. “Build for what you want, rather than having to repair what you wish never happened.” This statement became more real for me during the toughest season of my life just a few years ago. Personally I have never been a believer in waiting for things to fall apart before I start to work on things. In my humble opinion, by the time tragedy comes it is almost too late to start valuing what’s being threatened. People display how they truly feel when they scramble to fix things only when trouble comes. If you value something/someone, you nurture, grow and care for it/them in the daily rhythms of life. You don’t wait until something is wrong, or on the verge of being dismantled. You do not wait for the tragic event to happen. This is reactive living. Living a reactive life leads to having to repair what you wish never happened.

  2. To that we say, “live proactively!” Express your value for it/them from the start. Work to live and love well now. Build towards a greater goal. Approaching all of life this way allows for issues to be attended to as they arise in small form. However, if you aren’t building towards a greater goal, it is easy to miss unhealthy moments along the journey. If you do not pay attention to problems when they are small, you run the risk of having a massive problem later. In turn the bigger problems demand a greater cost of repair.

  3. The life coaching mindset for TDH is to help you not wait until your life is stuck or in shambles before you start working on it. Start today, while your life is still in good rhythm. Start today while you still have the physical and emotional energy to fight for what you believe in. Start today, making personal life development as normal and regular as checking your social media, watching your favorite Netflix show or as frequent as you engage others. Make developing yourself a normal routine and watch how you will begin building for what you most desire, rather than waiting to repair what you wish never happened.
